My 8th grade soccer team had a pretty good game today against a really good team. We actually tied 3-3 & I had a goal & helped set up another one. So our record now is 4 wins, 2 ties & no losses. That was the good game part.

The bad part was that I hurt my ankle pretty bad in the 2nd half. I got my foot caught under the foot of the other teams player while she was trying a tackle. She hit my ankle with her spikes hard. She didn't mean to, she was just trying to get the ball. But boy did it HURT! It swelled up like a soccer ball & I can't put any weight on it. My mom was at the game so she took me to the clinic after the game. It's all wrapped up now & the swelling is down some. But it still hurts.

So now I'm hobbling around on crutches & will have to get a ride back and forth to school for awhile. My coach thinks I will probably miss the rest of the season. I sure hope not because I was having fun this year. I hope this heals at least in time for volleyball season.

So that was my day today. I hope you guys all had a good day.

Oooh, bad luck Taylor, hope you recover sooner rather than later, it would be a shame to miss the rest of the season. At least the game was a draw. Let us know how the recovery goes :) and all the best.

Lucy xx

Hi Lucy,

Great to hear from you again! How is school going? I saw in another thread where you went to Edinburgh in Scotland. I've read about Edinburgh & it sounds like a beautiful city. Do you go there often?

My ankle is still sore but not as bad. Thanks for asking. I have to go see the doctor again next week to see how it's healing. The swelling doesn't seem as bad today. It sucks trying to get up & down the stairs in our house. I hope it heals soon fast also.

I hope you can check in more often. I miss you here. Bye!

School is going pretty well thanks, but pretty hectic at the same time. It's good to see everyone again though, although it's wierd being back in uniform.

Edinburgh is amazing, easily my favourite city. It's where I was born and my where my family are from so it's kind of my home town and so yes we go there quite often to see relatives and just to enjoy it. I'd love to go to university there but it's very hard to get into.

Well I hope it's improved by next week. Stairs can't be fun. I remember when one of my friends broker her foot her parents moved her bedroom to the ground floor because she couldn't handle going up and down all the time.

I'll try and post as often as I can but There is a lot going on in and out of school. Also we've just changed broadband providers and now our signal isn't as good, so all in all not good for being online. I will try though.

Lucy

That sucks. How many games do you have left in the season? I hope your ankle gets better.

Hi Ivy,

I think we have 7 or 8 games left. Our next game is Wednesday. I plan to be there but I will have to watch from the bench of course. I'm still sore but the swelling is going down so maybe it's not as bad as it first seemed. I sure hope so. I can't do anything but sit around with my leg elevated. And trying to go up & downstairs is scary.

My brother Sean helps me sometimes. He's actually been very nice about helping me with stuff since Friday. He gets me a drink or a book & he asks if I need anything. He's been really sweet. I think he forgot that he was mad at me. :) The rest of my family helps too. Shannon keeps wanting to see my ankle. It's wrapped up so there isn't much to see.

I'll keep you posted. Thanks.

We were all sorry to hear about your run-in with that other player, Taylor. Our Dad said that you should keep your foot elevated as much as possible to keep the swelling down, and reduce the pain. He also said that crutches are a lousy way to have to try to get around. Especially if your school and/or house has more than one floor. What did the Doctor say about playing again before the season ends? Wouldn't the Doctor know more than the coach about that?

Well, as you say, there is always volleyball season. Good luck getting better with your ankle, Taylor!

Hi guys,

Thanks for asking about me. I'm doing ok but my ankle still hurts some but not as much. My doctor told me the same thing, to keep it elevated & that is helping. And yes, crutches are a lousy way to get around. Trying to go up & down the stairs in our house has been an adventure but everyone is helping out. I will have steps to deal with at school but not as many. It's going to be fun Monday! :)

My doctor really didn't say how long it would take for this to heal. I have to go see him Tuesday so he can check it out. I hope it gets better soon.

Thanks again guys. Bye!

Good luck when you see the doctor tomorrow; maybe you'' get a better idea of what is what then.

We all hope you are able to get around at school and at home, and that your friends and family are helping you out.

Hopefully, the pain has gotten a lot better by now, too!

We're praying for your recovery!

Thanks you guys! I went to the doctor today & he said I have a small tear in one of the ligaments in my ankle. He said it should heal on it's own in a few weeks. I have to go back to see him next week. I might be able to have a special boot instead of crutches then. It's still sore but the swelling is down.

Thanks for your prayers. That means a lot to me.

My Mom showed us a drawing of all the ligaments in the ankle. Wow, is that thing complex! Only God could have designed something that magnificent and had it work "just so." You are very lucky that the ligament will heal on its own, Taylor. Someone we know- Mark- who posts here once in a while had to have surgery for a couple of tears in his shoulder ligaments. But, you were able to avoid that ordeal!

Dad described the boot that you might have. That doesn't sound like fun to wear, either. But, if that is what it'll take for healing to occur, it is worth it!

Our prayers for your complete recovery continue, Taylor!
