Angela,

I am Benji's uncle.

I wanted to take a moment and thank you for the kind post to him. Benji is a special and unique young man and he seemingly gets over his issues well but I know he internalizes a lot of feelings. I think your note to him encouraged him more than you will ever know. My sister does frustrate me but I love her and she is a person of value. Like us all, she makes mistakes as a parent. Thank you for recognizing the worth and love in her.

Benji is one of two "non-biological sons" living with me right now.

I have three boys: PJ - 16, Caleb - 14 and Joshua (JB)- 11 months. Our first daughter is due Christmas Day.

I also consider Benji and Mark to be my sons even though I did not "produce" them. Mark is 16 and is PJ's best friend since Kindergarten. For reasons I should not detail, he was abandoned and rejected by his parents and has been with me for almost 2 years. Karen and I are working on his adoption. You know Benji's story. His parents have given Karen and I temporary custody while they are in their various "transitions." Benji will be with us through high school graduation.

I am a minister of a mid-size non-denominational congregation. I was raised and educated a Southern Baptist but there is no denominational name on the sign in front of my church. All who wish to hear the love of Christ are welcome. I believe from your posts that you are of a different denominational heritage but that is OK. I can also tell that you understand what it is all about. I have said that it does not matter what is on the sign over the door, what matters is what comes from the pulpit. I am one who feels that many of us, much to the shock of others who thought otherwise, will be together on the other side regardless of what we called ourselves on this side.

I see the love of Christ demonstrated through you and I thank you for lifting up my nephew (son!)
