Subject: Intro Author: Anthony [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 21:22:39 09/26/12 Wed I am the father of 4 kids, 2 girls ages 13 & 8 and 2 boys ages 12 & 10. They post on the Spank with Love Family forum. My wife Angela & I have used spanking as a part of our kids' discipline since they were pre-school age. We believe that spankings as way to correct a behavior & discipline a disobedient child is very effective. We try to raise our kids consistent with our faith & values. Spankings are generally the punishment of last resort for most offenses. Our 12 year old son Sean had found the original Spank with Love forum last spring. He was curious about how other kids got spanked & primarily if other kids were spanked at school. Our parish was at the time considering allowing the school to spank the students. The problem was he was posting on that board without our knowledge or permission. And he was participating in some questionable discussions there. To make a long story short, my wife discovered his activities there & on some other unsavory websites. Needless to say, we came down pretty hard on him. But it did get our curiosity about the subject so when we found the Family forum we decided to let our kids post there. They seem to enjoy it & it has turned out to be a safe place for kids to share experiences. We do know of several other families in our parish who also spank their children. It isn't widely discussed in this part of the country but I believe most parents do spank their kids. It is illegal & against state law for public schools to spank but the law doesn't apply to private schools. However, our diocese has banned it. A parish may ask permission to allow it at their school but as far as I know none do so. I think this forum can be a good place for parents to chat & share information about their families in general not just spankings & discipline. My wife intends to participate here as well.
