For what things do you punish your child? How? (Indicate age and gender of child/children)

My children are punished for disobedience and that generally would be defined as a violation of the house rules that they signed in a disciplinary contract. Examples of these rules are disrespect to their parents; this would mandate a spanking that would usually be severe, especially if swearing were involved. In such a case, we now will also possibly use mouth-soaping in addition to the spanking.

Direct disobedience may involve a violation of a rule specified for a situation or a particular time, such as to stay within a certain area while at a particular store, etc. It could also be violating a house rule such as "no fighting" with any sibling, no wrestling in the house (except in the gym), swimming in the pool without appropriate supervision, failure to mind the baby-sitter, etc. As a general rule, direct disobedience mandates spanking plus possible additional possible punishments such as grounding, loss of privileges, etc. (See elsewhere.)
