In reply to: 's message, "Why has it taken MS so long to get another Miss America. Or consistent placements? This state used to be a powerhouse at nationals.. what happened" on 22:58:10 03/25/26 Wed

Mississippi usually placed before the Gretchen/Regina era. This year was the first top 10 placement since that took place. Not sure why. Maybe because they were still selecting winners based on MA prior criteria/juging, maybe because MA kept changing what they were looking for from year to year, and maybe because there were times when MA changed the judging and points between the state pageants and the national. Case in point when Asya Branch won Miss MS swimsuit was part of the competition but MA did away with swimsuit after state winners were selected for the National pageant. Had swim.\nSuit been eliminated before the state pageants were held or swimsuits still a part of MA that year, you may have had completely different outcomes.Maybe Mississippi will get back in the game

These are not good excuses. Look at states like TX, OK, NY, AL.. they have consistently placed well regardless of changes. Some states just know (NT)No name
