Hypocrisy occurs when a person claims to believe in certain values, morals, or rules yet fails to follow those same standards in their own actions. For example, someone who constantly criticizes others for bashing while regularly bashing others, would be considered hypocritical. The term is used to describe people who expect better behavior from others than they are willing to demonstrate themselves. Hypocrisy damages trust and credibility because people tend to respect honesty and consistency between a person’s words and actions. Franchises are struggling for delegates, many programs were forced to cancel their competitions the past year. We should be allowed to criticize a girl who wants to be Miss America but couldn't even be happy to place 1RU and instead made a poor post and has never apologized or corrected her behavior. The constant silencing in pageantry whenever someone has a rightful issue is disgusting. There have always been delegates who handled disappointment poorly. As contestants, we understand that reactions are often driven by heartbreak, frustration, and the loss of a dream. Most of us have experienced not placing as highly as we hoped, and we recognize that pain for what it is. What is far harder to understand is why anonymous adults feel compelled to mock, criticize, and tear down young women after sitting in the audience smiling in our faces. People say things online they would never have the courage to say directly to us in person. That behavior reflects far more on the people posting it than on the contestants themselves, and it certainly does not represent the character or values the MAO claims to promote.
