MANILA -- Tropical storm "Isang" claimed the lives of two children and injured two others before it left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Friday.

The fatalities, 8-year-old Rhea Jane Maseliones and 11-year-old Raymund Jay Maseliones, were struck by lighting in Barangay Farola, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur last July 17.

Two others, 31-year-old Evelyn Cabarsi and 23-year-old Elejo Cabarsi sustained minor injuries due to the lightning.

Meanwhile, at least 30 fishermen from Infanta, Pangasinan were reported missing because of the strorm.

The fishermen, residents of Barangay Cato, set sail a week before the storm hit the country and have not yet returned.

Isang made landfall in Isabela on Wednesday and left PAR the following day.

Two other persons, Evelyn Cabarsi, 31, and Elejo Cabarsi, 23, were injured during the incident.

Local disaster management units have provided assistance to the victims.

Isang affected several areas in Luzon and the Visayas. It left the Philippine area of responsibility on Thursday. But the NDRRMC said the Coast Guard in Aurora province and northeastern Luzon remains on alert and has advised fishermen not to venture out to sea because of big waves.
