Toast To The Incoming President of SASAI, Leonard Buenavista

In its August 2013 (Aug.1-5) Annual Officers meeting held at the Saint Augustine’s School Alumni International headquarters in Cantonment, Florida, and hosted by VP-Secretary Deacon Tom Buenavista, the outgoing and incoming officers of SASAI witnessed the installation of its incoming President, CEO and Board Chairman, Leonardjon Buenavista, an engineer by profession. Leonard is from Dardarat, Tagudin Ilocos Sur, SAS alumni, currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Outgoing President, Atty. Romeo J. Somera, Esq.,CPA, was voted in as President Emeritus. Officers who were unable to physically attend the 4 day meeting, particularly those from the Philippines and other parts of the US were able to participate in the meeting and discussions via teleconferencing. A planned celebration in honor of the first 8 SASAI scholars (from 1st year to 4th yr. high school at SAS, who are graduating from high school this school year, is in the offing. These SASAI “pioneer” scholars were sponsored by RHW Foundation, G&E Sprenger and Peter and Nora (nee Leonora Lucero from Farola) Sprenger. Including these graduating seniors, there are 26 SASAI scholars currently enrolled at SAS.

Thanks Larry for posting the SAS Ai, Inc. passing of the presidency from Atty Romeo J Somera, CPA, SAS Class 1959 to Leonardjon L Buenavista, MBA, SAS Class 1980. It is wonderful to see the younger folks take over the mission and leadership of the organization. Atty Romeo has decided to stay on the Board of Trustees and holds the title SAS Ai President Emeritus. Truly, he launched the scholarship program with vigor and determination.   - Mang Paul, this forum does not have a feature where you would log-in to identify who you are like they do in social networking sites like facebook, twitter and others. I cannot add any of that log-in feature because I don't own the site where this forum is being hosted. This is actually the format that I chose (for a reason)when I created this mb ten years ago. So being said that, you would see both anonymous and real names from people on the messages. Be aware though that even if people post their real names here, it is not sure if those are legit. That is why I have been suggesting people to really think carefully on what they are going to post here. Even good messages might be construed as bad or offensive or might be interpreted having a different meaning to some readers. Also, if you feel uncomfortable with the set up here at this mb, there are other similar sites to go to out there where everyone is logged in with their real names or their chosen names identifying them. I have to confess, however, that the successes that SASAI so far has achieved were the fruits of a team effort of the officers and Field Team of SASAI. Most importantly however, benevolent and generous supporters like you ' Adre Pol and the countless donors that are supporting SASAI scholarship mission made the program a success and will make it a success. Thanks Mr. Paul Villanueva. As to the Hawaii meeting, I think it is the suggestion of one/poster/reader. and worth considering. If funds from the personal coffers of the officers would allow to embark on such a trip, I am sure they all would love to go to Hawaii. However, for those from the mainland, it could become quite an expensive proposition. - Everything you mentioned is positive but people mentality especially Tagudinians is not giving SASAI directly their small savings. They are willing to spend indirectly with gusto like for example going to a Caribbean Cruise, Europe trip, Philippine vacation and Hawaii vacation. This is where your elected officers do all the planning. If they need help ask to the people who were formerly from SAS with experience. To name a few they are Manglapus, Belmonte, Kelly and you formerly EX. President of FACC the biggest organization in Chicago of the 1970’s. (NT) -- Paul L.
