I almost forgot, when a shaft or a hub has had a bearing go south and the race gets welded to it, most of the time the sizes will be off (shaft size)so getting a new bearing/race back on is a no-go. You'll have to work the shaft back into size, if its way far off you might be better starting over with a clean one.

If I'm up-against it and have to save something even for a short while (temporary fix) I'll get the fine toothed files out to try and bring a shaft back into spec, this process is weak at best and usually takes forever to get half-way right

another thing, Heat, I shy away from putting the torch on these parts cause the heat will grow a shaft(in size) and your left with more problems to deal with like hardness and such.
