Subject: HELP! A/C Compressor dead.

My car is an '89 325iS. The A/C died at the beginning of a 1000 mile road trip. The temperature was in the high 90's the whole way!!! It was hell.

I need info on the repair. I know they are expensive. Any tips on parts and installation? Is there remanufactured units available? I stopped at a dealer on the way and they said they just did one with rebuilt parts and it was about 900 bucks! OUCH!

Need help.
