Subject: cooling on 318i m10

my water temp seems to be getting hotter and hotter. and not sure what it is.

Driving roung town and on country roads it running just under half or just over half way if its been going up hill etc but when its on the motorway it seems to shoot up to at least 3/4. I'm getting kinda worried cause I ve already had one engine die on me due to craked innards.

The thermostate seams to be at least partly working as there is hot water in the top pipes aslo the drive belt seams to be up to tension to the water pump. the radiator isn't that old but some of the finnes at the front are dammaged is this my problem? or is it timing or something else. It does accosionally use a bit of fluid but not all the time.

A year ago it never even went up to the half way line

cheers all
