Subject: ATF...Dexron or Dexron II ?

My car is an '89 32iS with auto trans. The Bentley manual says Dexron or Dexron II. Is one more favorable? I need to add some...Does it matter if I mix them? I don't know what the car currently has in it. After a 2500 mile road trip I plan to change the fluid. Right now the fluid looks very clean and has no burnt smell. The transmission is workin' great.
