Subject: Engine Knocking???!!! HELP!

Hey Guys,

I have tech forum question. Recently I've noticed a knocking coming from my engine(88 325i). It's not the valves, as I know what those sound like. The engine Idles fine and the noise dissapears as I rev it up.

It's a dull knocking sound that's intermittent (no pattern to it). I'm worried. I've been driving the car normally. I've also noticed that the engine shakes whenever it knocks.

What can it be?
