Marlborough Police: Woman stole ID to get jobKendall Hatch/Daily News staff09/10/2013 12:00 AM
A Clinton woman was arrested Friday after police said she stole another woman’s identity to get a job in Marlborough six years ago, using the woman’s name and Social Security number until she quit a few months ago.

Giselie Oliveira, 64, of 24 Burdett St. Apt. 2, was charged with identity fraud, forgery of a document and uttering a false document, police said.

In a police report filed in Marlborough District Court, Marlborough police officer David Priest wrote that he took a report on Friday morning from a Woburn woman who said another woman had used her identity to get a job at Marlborough Hills Healthcare. The woman told police that the identity thief had been hired in 2007 and had never paid taxes, leaving the victim with about $8,000 due to the IRS, police said.

Priest went with the woman to Marlborough Hills, where two managers said a woman using the same name and Social Security as the victim had worked there, but had quit three months ago.

One of the managers called the former employee, later identified as Oliveira, and told her that she had a paycheck waiting for her at the business, police said. The manager told police that Oliveira said she would come pick up the check at 3 p.m. and also asked if they had any work available.

When Oliveira showed up to Marlborough Hills that afternoon, Priest wrote that the victim "turned red and appeared enraged and surprised to see the suspect." The woman told Priest that she had hired Oliveira years before when she owned a convenience store, but sold the store shortly after hiring Oliveira.

The two women began shouting at each other in Portuguese before Priest ordered them to be quiet, according to the report. Priest asked one of the managers, who also spoke Portuguese, what the two had been saying, and he told him that Oliveira claimed that the woman had given her permission to use her identity to get a job. The woman denied Oliveira’s claim, according to the report.

Oliveira was released without bail at her her arraignment at Marlborough District Court.
