She sat on a armless chair when giving over-the-lap enemas.

She gave me enemas when I was constipated or sick. Like many mothers of her era, she thought enemas were good for virtually any illness.

Whether she used a bulb or bag, she believed in flushing out my bowels with plenty of warm soapy water.
