Deborah, nice age.
I grew up in the 50s.
The enema was given often.
I remember my siblings, cousins or friends on the table getting syringed with the bulb.
Pills, laxatives and such weren’t given like today. Nor did moms take the kids to the doctor or ER like today.
I believe my good health today is cause of good diet, plenty of water, fruits, veggies and exercise growing up.
Actually knowing the possible damage some meds are known to cause, I.e. Tylenol, today I am glad I wasn’t given that junk. Never remember being given antibiotics either.
At the time when knew I was going to get an enema I may not have liked it. I didn’t hurt. We were never given enemas as punishment. For healing only.
Not only were we given enemas, I remember when at friends house the enema was also given.
Many times my friends little brother was on the table getting a bulb enema. There was no fighting or resisting it. His mom had him on a towel on the table. A large bowl or pan of mild warm soapy water on the table.
