I used the bulb when the kids were age 1- 11 then switched to the bag. Also used ivory soap when the kids were small then when using the bag I switched to salt and baking soda and found that the solution was more effective. It is important to retain the solution for 10 to 15 minutes which is somewhat difficult to do.

Also used salt and glycerin when I thought they were impacted.

I also liked giving and taking enemas. Such a soothing feeling after emptying the bowels.
