This is jamie Lucas and I have been working in the pageant world for over 30 years. All areas and many systems. I’ve judged , coordinated, coached, and prepared many girls for their events. I have become very close to some of my contestants! I have called many girls my sister ( when I was much younger) and now as I’m older I tend to call them my girls and a few of them are my babies! When I’m working with a girl or young woman I feel like she is an extension of me and or my work. I spend countless hours on the internet looking for the perfect outfits for opening number, interviews, gowns and even arrival outfits. I spend hours thinking about my contestants and how I want them to appear. I have coached many through interview. I have called them to remind them of workout times. Created eating programs to take off weight or build muscle. I’ve cried with them when life has let them down or when their dreams have come true! So bring a pageant daughter, sister, or even a dad to a few of my girls has been life altering to help them achieve a dream!! I look at pageantry as a sport! And you train for a sport in all areas. I have played competitive sports and had a coach and friends who I have bonded with! I had a special relationship with these team mates because we were working as a team and wanted to win! And our coach wanted us togwin and help us achieve our goals! And even though I don’t see my coach often when I do it brings back all these awesome memories! And he’s still coach to me! So why wouldn’t you expect he’d girls to get attached to their girls and vice versa! As far as getting paid for our services.... we could stay in the salon and work and make more money than we receive for our pageant services! We live doing it...we love seeing our protege win! The moment that crown goes on their head and for those few seconds in the world they aren’t thinking about all the negatives in their lives! The problems they are dealing with in life! They are for that moment a winner! I have cried with my girls and laughed till it hurts! I’ve been blessed by many to have been apart of their life! What they have taught me about myself! So if I call them my pageant seeds..babies....sisters..daughters or moms I know we forever how long or little have made a memory with each other! To flip out when your contestant wins is natural! I know what it’s like to work your ass off to get a girl to the crown! And when your flipping out with excitement you know how much it really means to your contestant and you know how bad it was wanted and how hard you worked to get it! Congratulations kurt on your win! Good job on your coaching ! Take it all in! Signed a gay man who loved his pages babies
