Here are my thoughts regarding Connie and the pageant:

1. Pageant started 35 minutes late, but no surprise (sad). The 15 minute intermission turned into over a 30 + minute break. I've heard this is how the entire weekend is for the girls-- practices, registration, etc. is an unorganized mess.
2. Connie DOES assist the judges in picking a winner. And I know for a fact that she DOES NOT LIKE pageant girls-- so if you've competed in another system you can pretty much forget it. It's well known that she loves a project, however, from the talks of previous winners she's not much help in preparing for Miss USA!
3. Same judges year after year-- NOT FAIR. If I am correct I believe there is a national rule that a judge has to wait several years before being able to judge again. From years past I've known for a fact that she was still trying to find judges the week before the pageant. Also, several of the judges I wouldn't ask to judge a baby show.
4. The Emcee is absolutely horrible and the back stage helpers are constantly poking their heads out from behind the curtains to help direct.
5. Connie once again got on stage and ranted. FYI said "she's been up for 70 hours"-- that's no shock because I'm sure she waited till the day before the pageant to get together the sashes, etc.
6. Where does the $1,000 entry fee go to? Because the girls still have to pay for their own hotel rooms, hair, make-up, etc. My thoughts-- CONNIE'S POCKET!
7. I've known several girls in the past did not compete because they could not get a hold of her for information regarding the pageant date/location/fee. It seems like she doesn't release the information until 2 weeks before the pageant. I'm guessing she doesn't even know details until then because she hasn't planned anything!

It's sad that the girls who would be great on the Miss USA stage no longer compete because of Connie. Year after year Kentucky's top competitors quit competing or switch to another state. I've seen more competition at a local county fair. I do not want to speak ill of the contestants, they were all wonderful, however KY could be a great contender for Miss USA if we could get rid of Connie.
