As many of you probably know, Amber and I returned home last week after 10 days in Hawaii, this was part two of our honeymoon. We picked the right time for our trip, at home temps were -30 and the wind chill was -45. The warms of Hawaii felt good.

We spent most of our time on the island of Oahu where we stayed in the Waikiki area. We spent our time visiting the sites, hanging at the pool or beach, checking out local attractions, exploring and best of all spending time with Amber. Amber and I both had a great time and recommend Hawaii for a honeymoon or vacation.

For those who asked, unfortunately, I did not bring back 6 Hawaiian cuties. First, it is hard for a guy on his honeymoon to pick up women, I don’t know if Amber would have approved. LOL. Also, it would be hard to convenience six women in bathing suits to come back to the frigid north with us. While I am not sure where the six guys live, I know they have winter at their place - the winter may not be as harsh as my home, but they still have winter. Also, I am not sure if their girlfriends would have approved.

Amber and I took the Pearl Harbor and USS Arizona tour. For me it was a very humbling and solemn experience, I am glad we went on this tour. It is hard to believe how many people were killed there in 1941, many of them younger than me.

We spent a lot of time at the beach and hotel pool. We soaked up the sun, went swimming, snorkeling and we even tried surfing. There are places you can rent surf boards and an instructor. We stayed on the Waikiki side of the island so the waves were not that threatening, at least not as bad as the North Shore. We spent a good portion of one afternoon surfing, we managed to get on the boards, stand up and ride the waves a little. If I lived in Hawaii full time, I think I would pursue surfing. We also played beach volleyball a few times.

One evening we took the sun set dinner tour around Waikiki, it was great experience. It was a beautiful evening at sunset, the city lights on shore in the background, local talent singing native songs. For dinner we had shrimp, salad, mashed potatoes, steamed carrot and zucchini, and cake for dessert. For dinner the entrée was very tender roast beef or lobster, I had the roast beef and Amber the lobster, we share. It was beautiful evening.

Another day we took a submarine ride in Waikiki harbor. The sub had windows on the side, like an aircraft but larger, and we had a great of all types of fish and seas life. It was another great time.

On evening we attended at a luau, another great experience. There was a welcoming ceremony, lighting of tiki torches, singing and playing of Polynesian and native songs, hula dances and other traditional dances, and a great buffet. There was roast pig, salads, deep fried mahmahi, fish, various greens, rolls, cakes, candies, etc.

One afternoon I played golf with three other guys while Amber and their wives went shopping. We met other young couples on the trip. Amber loved checking out the local specialty shops and the work of the local craftsmen’s and artists. At golf my final score was 88; I had the low score in our foursome.

We also visited Diamond Head, The North Shore beaches, the Lolani Palace, and much more. Some evenings we checked out the local night life, stopping at a couple of clubs for a drink and dancing. Slowing dancing with Amber in my arms was a great way to spend a honeymoon.

It was great trip and I had great time. I would go again. Now, it is back to reality. Amber and I are planning to buy a house or townhouse this spring, so we will start looking for a place to buy. She even has been asking when we will be starting our family. Responsibility is coming fast.
