Hey Grizzly,

How ya doing Big Fella? We see you saw the post about
Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog who lives at Punxsutawney,
Pa. and each year he tries to predict the weather whether
winter will contune for 6 more weeks delaying an early
spring if he sees his shadow and if he doesn't when he comes
out of his Gobbler's Knob home and doesn't see his shadow
then we are in for a early spring.

We checked and did some research and this is what we
found out more about Phil:

German settlers who came to America to relocate and
live different areas brought the tradition with them
about that Groundhogs can predict the weather.

Phil, who the town residents of Punsutawney, PA, gave
him the job for their town, is believed to be 131 years old, and to help him live this long, which usually the
life span of a groundhog living in the wild is only
4-6 years, he lives in Phil's Burrow which was built
for him and is attached to the Punxsutawney Memorial
Library lives there year 'round.

He makes his yearly Feb. 2 appearance to predict the
weather for an early spring or 6 more weeks of winter;
besides making other appearances when he is asked to.
Among them are: weddings (think Tanner and Kala would like Phil to come to their June wedding?), appearances when
the Pittsburgh Penquins play, appearance at the Annual
Groundhog Picnic & Phil Phest, and at other invited events.

Why has Phil lived for 131 years? Part of this is the food
Phil eats. He likes to eat vegetables of carrots, celery,
lettuce and Kale, and he especially likes to eat granola
bars, too.

His two front teeth never stop growing we've read, and eating granola bars helps wear them down.

Phil weighs 20 lbs. and he even became more popular
with his weather forcast predicting when the popular
movie "Groundhog Day" was made and shown in theatres
in 1993 which stars Phil and Bill Murray, and since
then is shown on television each year Feb. 2.

We learned that not only Punsutawney, PA has their
Phil predicting weather each year since 1887, but towns
at Marion, Ohio, Frech Creek, West Virginia, Woodstick;
Ill.; Raleigh, NC; Manchester, Conn; Prairie, Wisconsin;
Birmingham, Ala. and Chattanooga. TN each have their own
groundhog predicting weather each year on Feb. 2, too.

Grizzly maybe you should go learn weather predicting at
Weather School and then you can become the Official Weather
Predictor at the place in the United States you live at
and you can become more famous then what you already are
being a successful author/writing and YOU become a famous
weather predictor too just like Phil is.

It was reported Puxsutawney Phil loves the attention, loves the stardown performing before an audience, cameras and
getting alot of attention!

So Grizzly, does this help you understand why Puxsutawney
Phil gets the most attention on Feb. 2 each year because
he has been doing this weather prediction job more then any other groundhog here in the United States?

So you still have alot of snow in your backyard and at the dog park preventing you Grizzly and Hallie playing them
places?

We haven't been having no more snow collecting in inches
on the grounds around here, but we SIX and familiy members and our girlfriends have to dress warm when being outside,
even for just a few minutes, because of the COLD TEMPS. that
will give one frostbite, etc.

(Mark): I'm being careful because of the Cold Butt Syndrome (CBS) condition I have so my little butt doesn't get extremely cold and frostbite on it, so I have been dressing
in extra layers of clothes.

So Grizzly, got anymore questions?
