I guess Standard Oil of Indiana and Mobil became my favorite oil brands because they, along with the Farmers Union's CO-OP were the most popular where I grew up. Every town had a CO-OP, Standard Oil and Mobil gas stations.

I always liked the Flying Red Horse, Pegasus, on Mobil's signs, oil cans, etc.

With the break-up of Standard Oil into regionals, we were in the Standard Oil of Indiana territory. Standard Oil of Indiana would eventually become Amoco and later they merged with British Petroleum and became BP.

With the break-up of the original Standard Oil, one of the regional created was Standard Oil of New York, which later became Mobil. Mobil would merge with Exxon (Standard Oil of New jersey) and today is known as Exxon Mobil.

As a kid, the local Standard Oil bulk dealer would deliver gas, oil and diesel to our farm/ranch. I loved the red, white and blue bulk delivery trucks. The local SO bulk agent was the dad of one of my friends growing up.

All total I probably have about 35 signs of kinds. Mobil, Standard Oil, Ford, Plymouth, Good year, Firestone, Pontiac, several Mustangs, Ford Trucks, Atlas Tires, Delco, Lincoln, Zepher, Packard, STP, Quaker State, PennsOil, and others. They are a combination of original and reproduction, and hand on the walls in my shop.
