Hey Big Brother Tanner/Coach Tanner:

Good to hear that Mom "understand" about your 9th grade
basketball defeating her school, AGAIN! LOL. It's nice to
have a Family Rivalry isn't it?

Good to hear you are being "welcomed to the coaching
community" by former coaches, spectators, and fans. It
appears to them you have worked long and hard to get
where you are at and achieve such a goal since graduating
college and GREAT you are being accepted as an equal!

We can understand your calling former teachers Mr., Mrs.
or Miss at your former high school. We do/done the same
when we have returned and see a former teach come up to
us to talk and ask us "how is school/college going for
you" and this has happened quite a bit when we returned
to help when we could former football, basketball or base-
ball teams with practices or standing/seating along the sidelines during games. We've gotten some great praises
from former teachers, coaches, parents of players and fans
come up to us after college games or see us at home at
stores or places of businesses to tell us they are following
our college sports playing careers, and ask how our families
are doing, etc.

(Mark): Hey Coach Tanner, yes me and my small butt both had
to set on the bench together during a recent game when I got
into some foul trouble. I got "benched" by coach off and on
to try to help save me for later play in the game to help
try win the game. I didn't get any "T's" if your wondering
Coach Tanner. I just got into foul typical foul trouble reaching for the basketball, bumping into opposing players,
etc., and I wasn't mouthing-off to any game refs if you
were wonder. I was just playing "aggressively" like you
and my coach was seeing. Fouls just happened in this game
and I patiently sat on the bench until Coach could try to get me back into the game off and on. I have tried controling my "big mouth" and been doing a great job not
getting called any fouls on me for that. I very well remember back to my high school days when as a young player
you will remember got myself into "trouble" for mouthing-off to a few game refs, especially one ref, whom I thought
had it in for me and I went after him and I thought my
coach wasn'ting helping me to "ride" that ref enough, etc.
You will recall I got a "wake up" call given to me by that
coach getting my little butt paddled infront of the team after other discipline measures failed, and my dad and that coach went to school together and my dad gave his blessings if my little butt needed a coaches paddle to help straighten
me out then it was okay to happen. Later on at home my still
sore little butt got a second doze of feeling a paddle, MY
PADDLE and my dad had me bare my little recently paddled
sore/red butt and go over his lap to get another "learning lesson to respect game basketball refs at all cost and try
not to complain if calls are not going my way and not complain if it looks like my coach isn't helping me and he
really is and I'm not seeing that..." which my dad paddled
me good! OUCH!

(Drew, Jake and Sean): Boy do we remember that game and the mess that Mark and his little butt got themselves into! Mark
and his little butt learned a "good lesson" but, the rest of the Team did too, being showen to "not let this foul
problem/trouble happen to you and showing disrespect doesn't
accomplish anything but being punished severely to yourself, your team and to your coach. Okay, Mark's little
butt got punished too, and it was beyond "his" control and
had to sacrifice himself for Mark!

(Cody & Hunter): We are kind of glad we didn't know Mark when this incident happened to him, his team and coach; but
we understand from hearing about it that Mark got frustrated like all of us players do one time or another, and we hope we have out grown past foolish actions and have
learned to become better athletes and we feel Mark has and it shows in him trying to set an example for us younger players to follow who look up to him. Plus, nobody likes getting their butt "punished" and Mark could have prevented
himself somewhat from it happening some.

(Mark): Yes Coach Tanner, I will try to avoid getting fouls.
My Coach told me the same words like you spoke. You been
talking to him, haven't you? LOL. I have been doing better,
even if this is a young season.

You have a good "Tanner Rule" for your 9th grade Team to abide but, and if a player does have it happen they know
they must abide and not complain while they serve their
"sentence" of being benched for two games. So far, our
Coach hasn't come up with the same "rule" you have but,
has said "if things get out of hand severe discipline
will be handed out to a player(s) as needed!"

Sorry to hear your snow keeps piling up and your at 30.5
inches for a White Christmas. We've been getting some snow
lately but, only been lucky to only get 4-5 inches of snow
for a White Christmas here.

Great to hear the student is doing better in your class
and you don't believe he got spanked by his dad, despite
getting the riot attack read to him. It shows his dad cares about his son to behave in class and want him to be a Good
Student in school, and has inquired a few times and you been able to tell the dad his son has been "improving" and
will continue to improve, etc. We know you have been encouraging the student to be "good" and "improve" along
the way and to keep it. Your the kind of GOOD & CARING Teacher to want to look out for their students to bring
out the best in them, and make sure they come to school to
learn and not cause trouble. At least the student knows his
dad loves him and wants him to behave in school and is willing to give him a few chances before if it comes down to
(GULP) taking a belt to him to spank him for punishment. We
will be cheering the student on to be a good student who wants to learn and keep his butt from not becoming sore!

We are done with classes now, finished up exams and semester this week. Now have time to enjoy the Holiday
Season, which doesn't seem like it should be here already,
and we have a few basketball games to play before Christmas
and after Christmas we will be playing in a Holiday Tournament again that will be fun!
