I'd like to warn people that such isolationist desires and actions often result in strong public distrust and sometimes action. Regardless of what your intentions are, you will be interpreted as being like the Montana cooks who, a few years ago, wanted to seperate themselves from the country country in the middle of United States territory. They called themselves the "Freemen", remember that? The puckup trucks, flags and rifles everywhere didn't do them any favors. I'm not saying you're of this type, but you will be classified as this "survivor" type, which brings a knee-jerk reaction of fear in people, thanks to the left's demonization of self reliance. Think twice before trying to come up with some kind of socio-political commune. I've got two words to offer on this subject - "Ruby Ridge". Don't even bring that down upon yourself and don't even flirt with it. I'm a conservative that also sees this nation going to hell in a handbasket, but I'll do far more good by fighting the whackos toe-to-toe on their turf that I would by trying to go dig some remote hole to bury my head in. When you pack up and leave, they win.
