That all goes back to belief. You can choose to believe one way or another when there is no proof and there COULD be more than one Truth.

Back to the 'Columbus Analogy': Columbus didn't know for certain the world was round, but he BELIEVED it was. At that point he had no proof, but in his mind, it made sense. (RoundWorld=Belief) When he discovered the proof, the belief became truth (RoundWorld=Belief... Belief=TRUTH... RoundWorld=TRUTH)This 'BELIEF' is often called 'OPINION' and for all purposes, they ARE the same. I cannot TRUTHFULLY say God does NOT exist, but I CAN say I do NOT believe there is a God.

As for more than one Truth: By the same logic, you cannot prove there is only ONE Truth (that would be like proving that 'more than ONE Truth' is False). It is POSSIBLE for there to be more than ONE Truth, even if we haven't any proof to point that way. Maybe we just haven't looked hard enough or in the right place to find it. Until we find the PROOF, all BELIEFS of what is TRUE are nothing but OPINIONS.

In closing, let me say, I think you took my statement slightly out of context. You can NEVER prove something is false, but that does NOT mean it is true. It COULD be possible, but without PROOF it cannot be TRUE.
