This country will always have guns. Even if you (attempt) to confiscate them, criminals will still be left with guns. Australia confiscated guns, and gun related crimes there dropped very slightly, and overall, crime involving murder, rape, robbery, etc. went up drastically.
Thats the thing. The average, LAW-ABIDING man should NOT have to resort to the black market to get a gun.
We don't need to hunt? Perhaps, but there are hundreds of thousands of people who still enjoy to hunt such things as fowl and other animals. They eat them, too. Taste good. ;)
The NEED for guns is simple: To protect yourself. They are the most effective method for getting a criminal to "listen" to you.
Less juns, less crime? See above statistics in Australia. Israel, by the way, is easy on gun laws, and they have some of the lowest crime rates in the world.
Thats the thing. You can confiscate guns, do anything else, but will the criminals listen? Co-operate? NO!! THEY WILL STILL HAVE ACCESS TO GUNS!
