stone wall surrounds shattered glass
broken before me once, twice, thrice.

wanting to gather the precious pieces in my arms
and hold tight to the delicate shards -
mending every last piece.

but cold stones reassure
that my hands will never touch
that lovely mess
...as my heart stands in danger
of being shattered too.
