*The sands burn beneath the thin materiel of his sandals as he bows to the Queen. Many, many of the eggs had hatched and long since left the sands. He felt a twing of sadness sweeps through him. How many eggs are left? Any? he thinks to himself and finally sees one or two left. He steps nearer to them, not daring to get too close. Getting here had been a struggle for him. His grandparents had been alive when Fax of High Reaches still lived and they had feared the riders and they had taught his parents to fear them. But it didn't matter anymore, his parents were dead and he was a Candidate. What his parents and grandparents did no longer mattered because he was here at Igen with a burning hope in his heart. Ignoring the heat that surrounds him on the sand, he stands and waits.*
