Until the eggs were here, there was no reason for her to be here, but she had wanted to see the room where one day she might find her lifemate. She was a little nervous about Impressing, I mean, Joth had been her greatest friend, and he had died on her. Would a dragon do that? Then, smiling, she remembered how kind some dragonriders had been to her on the way here. She had asked one of them.

"I have a question, if your dragon died, would you wish you had never Impressed in the first place?" The greenrider had looked at her for a moment, then said vehemently, "No! Skianth and I, well, we're together. I'd rather have that short time with her than have never met her. Without her, well, I would have wasted away, not knowing what I was missing! She is a part of me, my heart. We are each other's steadfast advocates. And don't worry if you're nervous about that kind of rapport. Most everyone is."

She felt the smile on her face. To have a companion, one who would support her no matter what, and maybe even the as-yet-unborn queen who might help her to help her beloved Pern, would be worth anything, anything in the world to her. To have someone like that... "Well, might as well go to the Table to grab some klah and meatrolls while I wait," she said to herself, even though some part of her was reluctant to go.
