"Nice to meet you, Jenna. I'm Wessae. I hope to Impress, yes." She smiles warmly at the other girl, eyes lighting in true welcome.

"It's always been a dream of mine. My family used to supply herdbeasts to the Weyrs, but stopped awhile back, when supplies rose. My brothers and my cousin and I would play Riders in the grazing fields. We'd start by Impressing herdbeasts and pretending they were dragons, then we'd move on to jump from the lofts and into the fodder for flight, spreading our arms and imitating dragon creels." She chuckles at the memory, her laughter happy. A few tendrils of softly curled brown hair sneak through the loosely bound plait at her back to frame her face.

"There was a time when I jumped, missed the fodder pile, and broke my arm. I had been wounded in service to Pern! My father mended it for me....And then I came here, and thought, just like those games."

Only not really. She adds to herself as she watches the proceedings. Not really.

"But this is real, and I'm here! I can NOT believe it. It's so...thrilling. It's really enough to be doing this in honesty, and not in the fields chasing after herdbeast calves!"
