Kalya looked around the Sannds, her hands becoming tense and quivering nervously for a few seconds before she mentally calmed them down. The Hatching would start today, hopefully. Questions raced through her mind like runnerbeasts, and she grimly smiled at the analogy to, what was really, her past life now.

Was the queen for her? That marvelous creature who would help her reach her dream and change Pern, would she Impress her?

Better yet, did she even have a dragon meant for her? At all? Was her lifemate out there on those lonely sands?

Would her best and only friend until now, Joth, be proud of her? No matter what color she Impressed? Would he have been proud of her if she didn't Impress at all?

Kalya grinned, she believed she knew the answer to the last question, Joth would be proud of her no matter what, even just from coming here, for just making it to the place of her dreams...
