Subject: A tall, strong youth strides onto the sands.

He brushes back blond hair, and surveys the three remaining eggs with stormy grey eyes. He feels a momentary pang as he realizes just how late he is. Then he shakes the feeling off. With any luck, one of those eggs is meant for him. If not... well, there will be other Impressions. One thing, though, is certain; Riven is bound and determined to one day Impress a dragon. The mute boy smiles, remembering his older sister's words: You don't need a voice to talk to a dragon. Of course, that isn't the only reason he wants to be a dragonrider; ever since he was young, he has admired Pern's protectors, and their magnificent beasts. He steps forward, bowing towards the Weyrlady and her dragon. Approaching the eggs, he stares at their mottled shells in awe. Resolve crystalizes within him; he, voiceless Riven, will become a dragonrider!
