In reply to: Talla 's message, ">~<" on 09:37:01 11/14/05 Mon

Now darkness falls...

True looked over at Tr'ln through the corner of her dark eyes, and was almost alarmed at the expression on his face. Though he normally wore a small grin or a soft, peaceful expression, he was now completely emotionless, his face slightly darkened with the attempt at stealing all his feelings away. His once innocent azure eyes were now clouded with any number of foreign feelings, and his soft features were pulled back into a small frown.

He never once inturrupted Talla... just watched her, listened. His eyes suggested thatr he'd gone through every thought she'd mentioned many times before, but still he listened to evrything. he didn't even wince under her sharp whispers, and, if anything, just seemed a bit child-like at her accusations and wonderings, almost like one of the younger weyrlings who knew fully well that they'd made a mistake and was being reminded why they shouldn't.

Where once was love...

After sure she'd finished telling him anything of real importance (Namely, halfway through her "I can't believe--" sentance) he stood up, but not out of anger. He tried to look her in the eyes, but found that he couldn't. Instead, he merely looked downward.

"All right, then. Don't tolerate me. I can't make you, and wouldn't if I could." He bit his lip for a second, then continued. "And yes, Talla. I did think through all those things, but by the time I did it was too late. I can tell you're beant on making me as guilty as possible, so I guess there's no point in continueing the conversation."

Love is no more...

Still not bringing himself to look her in the eye, he brought his gaze to True. The greenrider opened her mouth as if to say something, but the words died at her lips, and she closed it again. Instead, Tr'ln spoke to her.

"Go ahead and stay with Talla, if you want," he looked away, off towards the exit of the Lower Caverns. "I'm sure she'd rather you not be associated with me."

Without even waiting for a reply, he turned to Talla. "Sorry for ruining your feast," he muttered softly, and then turned around and started to walk off. He didn't run--he just couldn't, not now. Instead, he'd just leave. If she wanted to shout at him, she could.

Don't say goodbye...

True looked over at him, a slightly hurt expression on her face, "Tr'ln!" she called, but he kept walking. With a small sound almost like a growl, she turned to Talla. Though she knew what the goldrider was probably thinking, it just couldn't register to her how the woman could break his heart, just like that, and remain unscathed.

"I can't believe you," she said in a soft voice. Her dark eyes showed that, in effect, her hatching feast was indeed ruined, no matter how much Tr'ln and Talla had wanted to save it. She took a breath, and whispered, "I hope you're happy now."

She turned, and ran to catch up with her friend. After all, he was her only friend, and she'd known him long enough to see that he'd changed in the last decade or so. She gently put her pale hand on his shoulder and fell into step beside him.

"So..." she whispered, ignoring the looks from some of the riders who had witnessed Tr'ln's abrupt decision at leaving. "Where do you wanna go?"

Tr'ln just shrugged. "Away from here," True nodded at his answer choice. Yeah, she thought. Away. That was the best decision.

Zairith flitted up behind them. {We could go to the Perches and wash up,} she suggested. {It will probably be empty now.}

'Good idea,' True agreed. Putting her arm around the brownrider, she started to lead him out, glaring at anyone who looked at them funny. In fact, she was so busy making sure no one said anything, it was a while before she realized that Tr'ln had started to cry silently.

Don't say I didn't try...

((Sorry to leave the thread... but, Tr'ln had to get out of there. Also, if truth be told, True wants to slap Talla--hard. Not me, of course! I love Talla! But, you know... True does have her own personality... Anyway, if you wanted to continue a thread, I'm posting Tr'ln and True down at the Perches, or maybe Trag could come by or something...))
