Gisella's eyes widen as she sees the eggs, and she supresses a chuckle, anticipating Letimira's request. Firelizard eggs - we do seem to be getting a lot of them recently. I'm glad Letimira's found a few, I'm sure she'll do well with them. The girl has the right personality to appeal to the flittery little things. The Headwoman's smile is as much amusement as anything else when she answers the girl's question, though she does manage not to actually laugh for fear Letimira might take it the wrong way. "They're probably from a green clutch," she explains, gently turning the girl and guiding her back towards the great dining room with a hand between the child's shoulderblades. "Greens don't have the presence of mind to guard their eggs like golds do. Tunnelsnakes get them if they're left alone, but it looks like you got there before that happened." Entering the large cavern and directing Letimira towards the hearth, she continues. "They need to be kept warm, and by the fire will be a good place for them. Don't worry about somebody taking them - firelizards don't just lay eggs on the hearth, they'll know they belong to someone. Can I touch them?" she asks, and without waiting for an answer reaches out to carefully prod a shell. It's still soft to the touch, giving a little under her finger, and she nods to herself. "It'll be four or five days before they harden and hatch, so if you make them a bed out of ashes so they don't roll away, you can just leave them there and check on them whenever you get the chance." Probably at least once an hour, Gisella's estimation aside, the woman reflects with mixed amusement and exasperation. The children especially seem to fuss quite a bit about those eggs, though indeed firelizard eggs seem to turn even the most mature riders into temporary children.
