Thanks for this. Sorry I never responded. Beth's story kind of blew me away. They actually have that book, the one Beth Fenimore was responding to, and a couple of other books by Roy Lessin. I asked Mallory if she ever got upset an upset stomach when she got spanked and she said she didn't, and when I asked her what she thought when I spanked her she said spanking me means you love me.

My parents just joined this church randomly when we moved here, and we live right next door to Mallory's family, which is how I ended up babysitting Mallory. Mallory's mom was having a hard pregnancy after three miscarriages, so was on full bed rest and in and out of the hospital. She is doing better now and Mallory has a little sister, and I still sit for her after school most days while her mom looks after the baby. (After my school, Mallory is home schooled.)

My folks actually stopped going to that church in July or early August and go to a different church now, but Mallory's dad was happy with the way I babysat Mallory. I have still gone with them a few times, but sometimes I go with my parents. What they preach does seem pretty far out there. It is a very small church, maybe a dozen families in all. Most of the kids are pretty young, but there are a lot of them. There are three teenage girls, one my age and two just a little bit younger than me, who I figured out from what you wrote still get spankings at home, which seems kind of weird. I guess Mallory will also get spankings past my age. There is also one teenage boy, my age, who I would definitely not want to let babysit anyone. He has sat for Mallory in the past.

I ended up spanking Mallory a bit more often and a bit harder, which clearly pleased her dad, but I was still careful to make sure she wasn't being terrorized. Mallory is naked for all her spankings, just like Beth, which I think is normal for other girls in this church but also kind of strange considering how big they are on modesty for girls. There is a ritual that is very similar to the one for Beth's spankings. I get how what you say about the Duggar family girls being molested could happen so easily to any of these girls. If I did something to Mallory I know she would never say anything, and I have sat for three other families in the church and probably would just have to stop babysitting if I ever did anything like that, nothing worse. I actually kind of wonder what happens in the family with the boy my age and fourteen- and twelve-year-old girls who are really pretty and so shy I have never heard either of them speak (and some younger kids, not even sure how many). I am trying to keep an eye on them. Mallory doesn't like the boy and has told me she is glad I am her sitter so she doesn't have to be spanked by him, but I don't think he has actually molested her.

I have definitely taken your advice to not take advantage of Mallory. I really care a lot about her. She is as dear to me as a sister would be if I had one. As an only child I have always kind of wanted a younger sibling. We have baked a lot of cookies together this summer, which is always fun and tasty, and Mallory has gotten to share them with the rest of the church at potlucks. Since my parents aren't part of the church anymore I always feel a little awkward if I go to any church event not specifically with Mallory's family, because it is so family oriented. I have gone to a couple of after church potlucks since school started though, and might go again tomorrow. Mallory gets excited when I come.
