Hello, Mike. Welcome to the world of Dominionist child-raising. You haven't said much about Mallory's family, but the things you mention--her father's hard spankings, Mallory cuddling up to her spanker and apologizing, the fact that her father is encouraging you, a male who isn't already a part of Mallory's life, to spank her for little things--practically shout Dominionism.

Mallory's father and other men who enjoy power over girls (and often enjoy spanking them) are raising Mallory and girls like Mallory to automatically obey men. The religious excuse is a hierarchy which places God at the top and men as heads of their households, intermediaries between God and their wives and children. They often practice what is called Christian Domestic Discipline (CDD) which basically means men spank their wives, as well as their children. Often men marry younger girls who are still being spanked by their fathers in their late teens or early twenties, and carry on spanking them the same way. Girls are not allowed to choose boyfriends, or even associate much with boys, and their fathers pick boys or men they consider suitable for "courtship", which is basically arranging marriages.

The Duggar family of "19 Kids and Counting" is an example of a Dominionist family. The older brother molesting his sisters is something you hear a lot of stories about from escapees from Dominionism. Boys can be given pretty much full authority over girls at young ages, and often the girls are fully naked for their spankings, like Beth was, or like the pre-teen to young teen girls in a family I knew in college were.

Although Beth does not mention being specifically sexually abused, she does mention that her spankings came to have sexual elements. It is quite common for girls who are raised with the type of discipline Beth or Mallory are subject to to accept whatever is done to them as normal, and not to even mention if one of the people who is allowed to spank them happens to cross a line which these girls are barely aware of.

Instilling he idea that spankings are perfectly normal is part of the goal of raising girls this way. Girls are taught that they need spankings. A father who encourages grandparents, uncles, older brothers, sitters, tutors, family friends, or other adult (or nearly adult) men from church to spank a girl and surrounds her with other girls who are raised the same way creates a worldview for her where getting spanked is as normal as sneezing. This makes it less likely that she will rebel against her spankings as she grows older.

I found myself in a similar situation in college, and I really don't know what to advise you, except to try not to take advantage of Mallory. If you quit or don't spank Mallory enough to suit her father, he will just find another babysitter who will enjoy spanking her and do it harder. I am very curious how you ended up in this position.
