I know I'm a little late to the game here, but my 11 year old daughter does this as well and it can be a real battle getting her to take a shower or bath. It's not something I would spank for, you have to choose your battles and if it doesn't pose a threat to anyone it's really not worth battling over. I figure it's a phase, al beit a long phase she's going through and will grow out of it. My 13 year old daughter did, now she has other issues to deal with.
