I was living in a pool house where I was paying rent to a middle-aged woman. On occasion, I would set up mirrors around my bed to get a good view, strip off all my clothes, lay face down over pillows, and give myself a spanking with a small hard strip of wood that made a sharp snapping sound when striking my bare buttocks. It was not easy, but with strong wrist action, I was able to administer a burning spanking that was real punishment for bad behavior as I was promising out loud to daddy that I would be good.

My worst nightmare eventually happened. I was interrupted by a strident voice outside the window. "What is going on in there?" I shot up off the bed, racing to get dressed, and unable to think of anything to say. My landlady had sounded both angry and incredulous. Did she see anything through the crack in the curtains? I sheepishly went to the window to look out, but she was gone.
