I grew up also getting the enema tube across my bottom (as well as up it!) at times and, as a spanking mom I kept the tradition alive. Not a regular thing in any generation. I imagine a cane would be similar. Bending for the tube was knee knocking. The enema tube might not be the most unusual but while I've read of others getting it, not common. The enema hose was rubber, mom's and mine are the old-fashioned red rubber type, not the light white plastic sort sold these days, and so as it whipped through the air there was a lot of energy impacted on a small long stripe area. Getting the tube, like getting the strap, was something to be avoided. So, effective. If you have a real rubber enema hose in your house check it out.
