Here's one thought. They may have been molested when they were growing up and it's a subconscious defense mechanism. It may have started as a way to ward off their predator. That's maybe one possibility.

Something a little less sinister. Really, it's their own business whatever the reason for not wiping or being dirty. Kids don't always wipe, let's face it. a lot of kids aren't that concerned or aware of their personal hygiene. Maybe like spanking they find it one of their first, perhaps innocent feelings of sexuality.

Both are great points, Val. I've never considered either of those things. In my roommates case I don't think she was molested, I really don't. She's never said anything like that and never even hinted at it. I think more likely, given that she's very immature and sort of innocent and childlike, I think she was very sheltered and spoiled growing up, I just get that impression, I think your second point is closer to it.

Your first point is very sad and I can see how that makes a lot of sense. I just don't even want to think about that, but I know it happens and it infuriates me.

There was actually a poster here that wrote about a roomate that got a good spanking when they discovered she was living in her room of filth and was quite dirty not taking shower in weeks or caring for personal hygeine. It was later discovered that she used it as a defense mechanism due to abuse she suffered from her mother growing up. Her name was Allison if I recall her story may have been pushed off.
