Emmie Sue, I'm not surprised people didn't understand your first post. Your posts here would benefit if you reread and edited before posting. Even your second post is still a little loosie goosie. I'd suggest ...

"Everybody is missing my question. What I was asking was: If you didn't get spanked growing up and if you wondered what it was like to get spanked, then if you had the chance to go back in time would you ask your parents to spank you or would you say nothing?"

You'll note the second part of your question is gone. Presumably those of us who were spanked growing up, if we didn't want to be spanked either said something, or let it be. If you want to peruse this it would be better to do so as a follow up question.

I hope the above is helpful to you Emmie Sue. I don't pretend my version is perfect, or couldn't be improved on, but I do think it clearer than yours.

By the way, before posting I went back, reread and made 12 changes for clarity and smoothness including changes to punctuation.

Best, Mindy

I too, was all lost; on what Emmie, was asking. I was never a great student of grammar. But, knew how valuable it is to make your point.

That said, nobody needs hit all the points of grammar; in this friendly chat forum. But it never hurts, to do the best ya can; anyway.

Just saying, Mandy

Total agree, Mindy --- The big thing is writing to be understood. I believe you are using a semi-colon all wrong; (as I just did) but it doesn't matter as it helps make what you want to say clearer.

Just occurs it's not unlike giving a spanking. I never demanded perfect, but lack of trying, that was different.

I (Mandy), have something to tell you; Mindy.

The rule for coma, & semi-colon; is...
In a sentence, where only 1 is used. A comma for a break, in the sentence. If same thought, continues.
If the thought changes; you use a semi-colon.

Where muti breaks, are used; it's like this:
Coma, semi-colen; coma, to be proper.

(Unless, it's part of a list.)
Then you use commas, until the last item; in the list.
That then should be followed, by a semi-colon.

Does that make any, sense to you ?
