I was in 6th grade when my friends formed a birthday spanking tunnel and thought it would be fun for me to crawl through the amount I broke a bow or ribbon. I had to go through ten times. My butt was hurting after the 6th time going through the birthday spanking tunnel. I had 10 friends who all lined up. That was a lot of quick hard slaps on my butt as I was Did anyone else ever experience this

The names for these group inflicted spankings are interesting.

A spanking machine, a spanking tunnel, the mill, and (our label in the scout troop) the beltline!

We had a serious version of it. It was in reality a punishment gauntlet. In the early 20th century it was used in many scout troops and it is mentioned as a common punishment in military units probably going back thousands of years.

Misbehavior in the group's unit was punished by having to pass down the beltline, a double line of members holding the belts they were wearing. Canvas uniform belts were doubled and gripped by the buckle end and then swung at the bottom of the miscreant passing by. The result was two dozen plus belt licks in say five seconds on the runner's backside!

Running the beltline was considered "fun" by the leaders who gave the guilty party bending over a "Start" lick but not so much so by anyone who was sentenced to run.

The big No-No was hitting someone in the "front." Rarely if ever was this clearly risky action done deliberately but accidents do happen. The leaders used a complaint about a front hit to demand a confession of "Who did it?" When no one plausibly confessed, everyone was sentenced to run so that way the alleged guilty party would be punished.

I grew up overseas and attended a special English speaking boarding school there. Birthday spankings were a HUGE tradition in the 60's and 70's. It was big in my dorm and were administered by the dorm father.
Younger kids got it over the knee and over clothes.
After age 10 we went though the v"spanking machine," as we called it. We would line up tallest to shortest with our legs spread.
The birthday boy or girl would run through the legs as fast as they could while the spankers used both hands to get in as many swats as they could.
The numerous part would be that the kid would get stuck under a small kid's legs and would run a few feet away with the kid stuck to him facing backward!
