I am not sure if any of my friends still got paddled at home when they were older or not. I don't ever remember seeing bruises in gym class. The middle school had only recently got rid of paddling and there were still stories about it when I was there, and a few coaches who commented they wished they still had it. It's happened a couple times but I was able to conceal any evidence. Thank God for us, showers are optional. I tried as best I could, but it's not possible to totally hide the evidence. What made it even worse is that most of the students knew what happened at school and that I had been suspended two days before. Not knowing was bad enough. Wondering if the reason someone has a different attitude around you is because now they know you get punished like a small child at home. Then at home, did the neighbors hear? What about the girl living next door? Spankings were very loud affairs that could be heard it seemed like a mile away. And what if someone was close enough that they peeked in a window and actually saw the spanking?
