They should have had a short step-stool for short persons to stand on for their licks. When a paddle lick lands, as you noted earlier, it can lift you up. If you are on your toes and barely reaching the other side of the desk, trying hard to stay in position, the school should make it easy to do and not allow licks that almost force you out of position like the uplifting ones do.
