I kinda knew myself how bad my offence was, and if it was seriously bad behaviour, then a heavy hiding was pretty much a sure thing.

If dad ever had the yardstick in his hand me and/or brothers were gonna get whacked and it was gonna hurt.

There were a couple signals that seemed it indicate Dad was fixing to give me heaps of whacks and make it a bad one.

1. If the lecture was long. The longer the lecture, the worse he thought my behaviour was.

2. His demenour the immediate few moments b4 spanking. If stern words like "BEND! OVER! CALLUM!" came then a huge belting was coming my way. If i got away with say only 10, i was lucky
