I feel the butt is ideal for spanking. It is a combination of fatty and muscled tissues that will bounce back when spanked. In most cases, butts do not bruise from a hand spanking.

For me, the sides of her bottom are definitely out. Not much extra tissue there and very likely to bruise, especially with a strap. Some have enough extra tissue on the back of their thighs to handle a lot of spanking, but I normally save that area for those who will not cooperate with their spanking. Yes it hurts more and a couple of swats there usually get them to move their hands away from their behind.
