If the hairbrush hits the same spot twice it does. With the wriggling and twisting that's taking place it's not always easy to not hit the same spot twice. I don't try to make it happen but it does and when it does you can tell. As for being stoic or not for as long as they can I would say as they get older the attempt to remain stoic is something that they all seem to develop. "I'm a big girl now and I'm going to try and be brave." My next youngest is a drama queen and fusses a lot over a spanking, my next oldest seems to get further into her spanking before the crying starts.

As for feeling sheepish after getting it, yes always. There were times when I had taken my attitude or my mouth or both way over the line and I got a good one which changed my attitude dramatically and when I got one of those I didn't want to see anyone either and there was always a stinging reminder that happened every time I had to sit down for at least the next day.
