Subject: OT: I need tech support advice

Yeah, I know this is off-topic for here, but I do need some advice.

Was at a recycling centre recently, and picked up some pre-owned iPads for cheap.

Can't get past the iCloud lock, not even going to try.

But I have done my research. According to what I've read, there's the possibility that if I get in contact with Apple, with proof of purchase, they might remove the iCloud lock. At least that's what I've read.

A few sources said I can can file a support request, but it turns out that is only for a device I already own, so that's no good to me. But other people have managed to get pre-owned, legally purchased devices unlocked. Two of the devices came from a college a few suburbs away, and while I could get in touch with their IT department, I have a feeling I wouldn't get anywhere.

Is there anyone here with experience in this, dealing with Apple?

The only other alternatives are, cutting my losses, and adding the devices to my collection, or pay for a third party solution, which purports to work, but seem to be hit and miss. And there's no way I'm going to drop money on something that's a coin-toss.

I'd rather go with a legit option. Unless there's another way, a last resort. I do already own an iPad, but it's the original, way out of date. And I don't have the money to drop on something current. As an aside, there's my daily driver, and that's a decade old. Saving for a better machine is a slow process.

Nick
