Why am I telling you this?

Because for the next two or three months, the filler pool content is coming from what DU saved from the TLS web site, and it's going to be fvcking horrid.

Dark Side stuff, I can tolerate, barely, some of it is sick, and I don't mean in the good way. I try and avoid the worst of it, so it doesn't get inflicted on anyone else.

Sex-heavy stuff is the same, and there are plenty of authors our that not only hit that button, but mash it so hard, I'm surprised people don't report shockwaves.

And when minors are involved, it honestly makes my blood boil. An alternate universe version of me would be using my superpowers to remove a few people from the gene pool.

There shouldn't be any forbidden topics in fiction, people can write what they want, if they use sensitivity in doing so. And from what I've seen in the past 20 years, a lot of authors in the community don't do that. I wish Cock-punch over IP was a thing.

Not saying the fiction should be bland, but just don't go all-in when it comes to explicit content. Allude to it, don't describe it. If there are shenanigans, people can use their imaginations.

And with Smoking Fetish Fiction, the sex is in the smoking.

I enjoy listening to creepypastas, suspense and horror is the focus. It's not written that a scary monster appears, and terrorizes someone, so they fvcked it, and everyone lived happily ever after.

SFF is no different.

I get that this genre of fiction is written for adults by adults, but a lot of potentially good stories get derailed when the author shifts focus to where it doesn't need to be, simply because they themselves get a stiffy our of it.

Nobody really wants to read that. And for those that do, there are websites for that.

Stories where a female character might be a smoker, but promptly fvcks an entire football team, isn't a smoking fetish story.

I'm sick of seeing this kind of shit.

The next few volumes of NSC are going to be full of it, because nobody is writing anything better.

I'm starting to wonder if it might be cooked as a fiction genre, if that's the way it's going.

It's like we need a code of conduct.

We certainly need higher standards in writing. Other genres and places do. So why don't we?

Because this is the content we leave for those that will come through when we've moved on.

I think I'm allowed to have some personal opinions on it, after two decades. I'm so done right now.

In four days time, I'm going to publish a volume of fiction that for the most part, nobody should be proud of, and a month from then, it'll happen again, and probably the month after that.

What happened to putting our best foot forward?

We need to do better.

Nick
