G'day AF,

I've been keeping an eye on Kate Smokes, and it hasn't made it into the series yet, mainly because you're not done with it. I do try and steer clear of overly spicy content. But I'll let some stories through. it just gives me the shits when some authors start off strong, but let it degenerate into a fvckfest. Making a smoking fetish fiction into a sex fetish fiction where the characters happen to be smokers.

I have two things when it comes to explicit content, it's better alluded to than described, and, the sex is in the smoking. It is smoking fetish fiction after all. You'd be surprised how many people don't get that. And it's a disagreement I've had with many authors many times. As an analogy I've compared James Bond to Highlander. In the former, it's alluded to but never seen, in the latter, it's seen, and does nothing to serve the story. I always skip that scene when I re-watch that movie. And I nope out on stories when I see it there. Otherwise the series would be full of gutter-level fiction, and that's not what I want it to be about, never have.

And don't do what your audience wants, at least with regard to explicit content, while it might give the degenerates on Reddit a stiffy, most of the rest of us don't want to read that sort of crap. I tested this years ago and got negative feedback about it. Back years ago I scraped the fiction section of SFK, when it was looking like that forum might go away, I ended up with years worth of filler, but after I got that feedback, I went through and deleted a lot, setting things back a couple of years. I've seen this happen before, authors feeding off what the readers suggest, seeing things get progressively more perverse, seeing what would have been good stories, and story arcs turn into things where the protagonists, and the authors, should be on some sort of watch list. But dark minds go to dark places.

All that said, I'm genuinely glad you're making the effort, and it is appreciated by more than myself.

Nick
